Web 2.0 tools to use for working with others!

Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/)

While reading through the ncca.ie document I noticed vimeo was mentioned! This is a great sharing website and connects with working with others. Students can create videos for vimeo and connect with other students from around the world.

Vimeo is easy to use and has no disruptive ads! This is crucial when in a school environment. Nine out of ten times it’s not the actual vimeo content that raises eyebrows – but the ad that plays before the video!  (which is why adblocker is one of the greatest apps ever invented)

For those of you who don’t know what vimeo is here is a quick youtube demonstration to explaining all!

Another great working together Web 2.0 tool which really pushes the boundaries of working together in the classroom is Skype Classroom.

Skype in the Classroom is a free global community of teachers who are working together to create inspiring Skype lessons.

Skype is a great classroom resource and a web 2.0 tool as it’s well known and free! Additionally, it allows people to work together whether they be one door down or a few thousands miles away.

Skype is a free and easy way for teachers to open up their classroom. Using Skype in the classroom, you can meet new people, talk to experts, share ideas and create amazing learning experiences with teachers from around the world.

On a personal note, I have used Skype in the classroom with Italians students who I taught before. Personally, I found it’s been amazing to keep in touch with the students and a great way to ensure as a language teacher that they can become more familiar with english.

(They are currently doing reaching 1 million virtual miles – going around the world – so please have a look and participate where you can! – We can’t reach 1 million virtual miles without your help! Sign up for the : )

Twitter

connect twitter

Twitter is a web 2.0 which I cannot stress is a great web 2,0 tool which can not be underestimated! Teaches student how to communicate and work with others in less than 140 characters!
